45: Wedding Scrapbook!

Howdy! I got married on 02.20.2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Being a micro-wedding, as in, immediate family only, I booked the ceremony through The Little Church of The West, who handled the photographer and whatnot. I could have booked a more expensive package and had the photographer for the reception too, but I only had him for the ceremony. The reception was a sit-down multi-course dinner at Canaletto restaurant at the Venetian resort. I couldn't justify the added expense of

38: Fun Things to do in Austin TX

Howdy! So I lived in Austin for a few years but I'm by no means a local. When I move to a new place, I try to see it like a tourist for as long as possible, finding fun new entertainment every time I go out. Bear in mind, I keep my outings pretty affordable so this isn't a high-dining guide. Here are some of my favorite Austin spots: Fave Pizza: Via 313 Pizza. They fry it. Like the whole thing. Fave Burger: Jewboy Burgers. Get a latke on your burger. Just do it. Fave Fried Ch

27: Culture Shocks While Traveling

Howdy! Honestly, I’ve been around a decent chunk of the states and Europe. With the exception of my long rant (see Post 19) regarding the lack of good public transport in Austin Texas, I haven’t had too many culture shocks. However, here are some in Budapest Hungary, Barcelona Spain, Rome Italy, Paris France, and Vienna Austria: No Ice in Budapest, Barcelona, and Rome: One difference that surprised me in Europe was that I couldn't find ice. Budapest, Barcelona, and Rome don't

13: Planning a Vegas Wedding from Texas

Howdy! So fun fact, my fiancé proposed to me at the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona Spain while we were backpacking back in 2018. It’s now 2021. From the get-go, we planned on having a destination wedding. Nothing crazy big, but someplace cool, preferably where we’ve never been. Initially, we aimed for Ireland. They’ve got castles along the coast, many of which have been converted to hotels, who offer very reasonable elopement-weekend stay packages. How cool, right? Getting marr

12: Other Airport Mishaps

Howdy! So I've mentioned before that in 2014-2015ish, to save money on our flight to Paris, we transferred in Moscow even though that doubled the length of our journey. Well, we had about an hour to make our connection in the Moscow airport, and several minutes of that time was spent going through security and getting our passports stamped in Moscow. There were no signs in English, French or Spanish. We could not find any Customer Service Personnel who spoke English. We just

11: That Time AirFrance was on Strike

Howdy! Back in September of 2014ish my SO and I went to Paris. We flew from JFK (John F. Kennedy International Airport) in NYC to an airport in Moscow (which had zero signs in English/Spanish/French and where we could not find an English speaking employee! We caught our connecting flight by following a pack of blonde women from flight to flight.)(Sorry! Can't remember which airport we cut through. Moscow has 5 International Airports.) where we transferred and flew to DeGaulle

10: How to Budget for Your Vacation

Howdy! In this post, I’m going to list ways I’ve saved money for trips, as well as other ways I could have. This is not a "don't spend $5/day on Starbucks" type of list. This list is for broke folks. When I was a tattoo artist, I remember a coworker ranting that travel was classist, and in a sense, I see what she meant. Yes, had I chosen to have children, while still pursuing art and writing, chances are, I’d be traveling significantly less. Even just adopting dogs has really

9: Expensive Issues To Avoid While Traveling

Howdy! My fiancé, Danny, and I traveled quite a bit before the Covid Pandemic. On our trips, we sometimes made very stupid, very expensive mistakes. Here’s what went wrong and how we could’ve saved lots of money. Lots. Back in 2014ish we went to Paris. We sought discounts every step of the way. Our flights were advertised as being nearly half price on @TheFlightDeal(Twitter account) and Danny booked our hotel in the middle of Paris on Orbitz. Sounds great, right? Well, sort o

6: Traveling During Covid

Howdy! So, same as everybody else, I ceased traveling when Covid 19 hit, canceling plans to fly to New York for baby showers and whatnot during 2020. Now, having gotten both of my Moderna vaccine shots over a month ago, I decided to fly down for my nephew’s first birthday party this past week. All and all, I think the airports are doing their best with a bad situation. That being said, I witnessed some inconsistencies. Waiting to fly out of Austin-Bergstrom airport, I heard m

1: Intro to Me & My Blog

Howdy! I’m Jessica Lynn Nacovsky. That middle name gets looped in there for branding because JessNacovskyStudio hasn’t quite the same ring as JessLynnStudio. Anywho, welcome to my (soon to be, as of July 12, 2021) many rambles about art, writing, travel, and what have you. Who am I to inform(or just as likely—vent) on these topics? Fair question. Well, like every other painter-writer-wanderer in the history of creating, I’ve always drawn, always told stories, and grew up noma
